Can anyone have an implant?
Yes, implants can be placed in anyone. In the case of systemic diseases (diabetes, hypertension) they simply have to be controlled before proceeding with the surgical procedure. Implants can be placed when the growth process is completed, approximately 18-19 years of age. There is no age limit when placing an implant. The elderly can also gain quality of life with dental implants.
What care is considered for an implant?
Implants require basic care, which is essentially the same as what natural teeth need with correct oral hygiene, such as correct brushing, the use of dental floss and interproximal brushes. A regular consultation for cleaning will increase the chances of enjoying of implants with satisfaction for years.
What would happen if I smoke after having an implant placed?
It is recommended that you avoid tobacco or cigarettes, as it can have a negative effect, even if there is no other risk factor. It can impair healing, reduce blood supply, reduce defenses against bacteria or affect the long-term health of the implant. There are studies that show that smoking patients have a greater risk of having infections in the implants.
How long do implants last?

How long do dental implants take to heal?
Most implants will heal sufficiently after 8-12 weeks. Typically, any pain or swelling from implant surgery subsides after 3-7 days. If you had several teeth and a full mouth removed from the implants it may take an additional week for the swelling and pain to go down.
Do I need a bone graft to get a dental implant?
Possibly. You will need to be evaluated by an implant dentist. The implant expert will need to take an x-ray of CONEBEAM 3D and determine if you have enough bone volume to place a dental implant.
Do I need a bone graft at a tooth extraction site?
If you would like to obtain a dental implant in the future, it is advisable to obtain a bone graft to preserve the bone. The best time to get a dental implant is usually at the time of tooth removal. Sometimes dental implant surgery is not possible due to pain, swelling, and infection. A delayed implant surgery is an implant 1-4 weeks after tooth removal when infection makes immediate surgery impossible.
Does bone graft work well?

How much does a bone graft cost?
Anywhere from $400-$3000 dollars. It depends on the bone extension, shape and health of the remaining bone. Sometimes, where the bone is very small and close to the sinus, the graft can be more complex with sinus lift bone graft surgery and expensive.
